TRADING CARD SETS
Are the cards only available online or are they also available in print form?
Our trading card sets are created by the users of this site for their own enjoyment, and will never be printed or distributed in any manner. They are only available online in their digital versions for the viewing pleasure of our visitors. Any visitor may view the cards freely, even if they have not registered an account. In other words, it's all just for fun and a way for people who have similar interests to share pics and data through the digital trading card format.
How do I view a card set?
Card sets may be accessed via either of the following pages, depending on the status of the set:
Completed Sets - This page provides access to any sets that have been finalized.
Sets in Development - This page displays all sets that are currently in development and links to the individual cards that are slated to appear in the sets. This allows users to view which cards have already been added to the set, and therefore prevents duplicate cards for the same person/character/etc.
On both of these pages, the card set names may be clicked to access a page with the set's data, including a description, the set status, and the scheduled finalization date.
What are the various set statuses and what do they mean?
When a set's data page is viewed, the current status of the set is listed. The status may be either of the following:
Development - The set is currently accumulating more cards and being refined.
Finalized - The set has now been released in its final version.
What exactly does it mean to finalize a set?
The process of creating a trading card set on this site involves a development period during which users may add cards. During this time, cards are accumulated and refined for quality. Each set in development has a scheduled finalization date (viewable on the set's data page). When this time comes, the set is finalized in that all cards are made final and may no longer be edited. The set is then released in its final version on the Completed Sets page and will always be there for the enjoyment of our visitors.
ADDING A NEW CARD
How do I add a new card?
To add a new card, just go to the Add a Card page, fill out a small form, and then click the submit button. From this page, you may add a card to any set that is currently in development. To see the cards that have already been added to a given set, please check the Sets in Development page. This will allow you to see if someone has already submitted a card for the person/character, so as to prevent duplicate cards.
On the Add a Card page, how do I fill out the form (add data, upload a front and back pic, etc.)?
On the Add a Card page, first select the set that you want your card to appear in, and then select the card type. After the set and card type are selected, the card templates for the front and back of the card will display on the right to give you an example of what a completed card will look like. The card templates are useful in that they make it easy to visualize what your final card will look like after you complete the form.
To complete the form, enter the required data and upload pics for the front and back of the card. The front pic is ideally 250 pixels width by 350 pixels height. However, any jpg, gif, or png image will work. If it is not 250x350, that is okay, our program will resize and crop the picture after is uploaded so that it will fit the 250x350 card size.
The back pic is ideally 200 pixels width by 105 pixels height. However, as was the case before, you can upload a pic of any size and it will be resized and cropped to properly fit the back card template.
What if I make a mistake on the card that I add or just want to change it?
After a new card has been submitted, it may be changed by the user who submitted it via the Edit Cards page. This allows for the correction of errors and the improvement of card quality. Eventually, our admin team will finalize the card. After the card has been finalized, it can no longer be edited, and it will appear in the set in its final form.
What are the various card statuses and what do they mean?
When a card is viewed, the current status of the card is listed. The status may be any of the following:
Submitted - This card will be evaluated for inclusion into the set.
Refined - The card has been refined for quality, but has not yet been finalized.
Finalized - The card has been accepted, and will appear in the set.
What refinements might the site's admin team make to a card?
In order for the final trading card set to be of the highest quality possible, our admin team will review all cards and may refine some of them for graphical and data quality. When a card is added, the card set's front and back templates are applied to the pics and data submitted. Occasionally, problems may occur such as the front image not being cropped properly or the text extending too far into the template's borders. Our admin team will correct these problems before finalizing the set. In almost all cases, we will use the same pics and data submitted by the user. When a card is refined, problems that occured during the on-the-fly card creation can be corrected through careful graphical manipulation in our software, and sometimes blending and other factors can be improved to give the card it's best appearance.
When will my card be reviewed and finalized?
The card will be reviewed by our admin team and finalized sometime between the time when the card is submitted and the time when the card's set is finalized. For more information on the finalizing of sets, click here.
How many cards can I add?
Simply put, you can add as many cards as you want to. The more, the better! When in doubt, add the card to the set. The description of what is intended for a given Trading Card Set may be accessed on the set's data page, but we take a broad view of this criteria and welcome any cards that our users would like to add.
